88-year-old downtown Ann Arbor bookstore closes

Ann Arbor – Tree Town is losing another beloved bookstore.

After more than eight years in business, the Ulrich Bookstore will close its doors on Monday.

This 88-year-old downtown bookstore has been supplying University of Michigan students with textbooks, office supplies, graduation gowns and memories since 1934.

United Nations social mediaUlrich officials wrote, “Ulrich will be closing soon. Thank you for your business and for being a part of our story for the past 88 years!”

The store’s online bookstore said: “Our last day is approaching as Ulrich’s closes on October 31, 2022. We are grateful for the stories and memories we have created with generations of Michigan alumni and fans. Forever Blue!”

No reason for the closure was given.

In 2017, the store moved to its current address, 1200 S. University Ave. It was originally managed by Fred Ulrich but was acquired by Follett Higher Education Group in 2015.
