WILLIAMSTOWN – Williamstown restaurant will be voted America’s Best Restaurant.

Restaurateur Chris Bender conducts extensive on-camera interviews about the restaurant’s standing in the community to highlight popular dishes. The episode will be broadcast widely on social media channels at a later date.
Since its opening in 1980, The Da Vinci has been an icon in the Williamstown area. Three stories high, it can accommodate up to 650 guests, including a private dining area for events and a 60-seat outdoor courtyard.
Originally owned by Jim and Marilyn Pettit, the restaurant is now owned and operated by Bender, who worked at Pettit for 30 years as a waiter and manager before purchasing the restaurant. Bender said she never thought about staying this long, but it was love for those who kept her there.
“(I love) people, not just interactions with customers, but with employees, people you meet and their stories,” she says.
Several employees have worked at Da Vinci almost since it opened.
Bender also noted the consistency of restaurant food. The menu is Italian with daily, nightly and Sunday specials.
Among the most popular are the pasta Mona Lisa and German pizza featuring horseradish sauce, corned beef and sauerkraut. Both could appear in the episode, she said.
Da Vinci also has an in-house pastry chef. Mile-high lemon meringue pie and frozen coconut caramel pie are favorites, Bender said.
America’s Best Restaurants will be filmed from 2-5pm EST. The episode’s air date will be announced on its Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants website https://americasbestrestaurants.com/west-virginia/davincis-restaurant.
