Google has been running ads for a “get-rich-quick” scheme run by misogynist influencer Andrew Tate, a new study suggests.

It appears to be a rebranding of his “Liar University,” a controversial community where paying members share Tatecontent on your own social media accounts.

The 36-year-old has gained notoriety on platforms such as TikTok Driven by offensive comments, including referring to women as “property” and suggesting rape victims “take some responsibility” for being attacked.

Google is understood to have taken action against the ad since it came to its attention.

Ad Promises ‘Millionaire Lessons’

A Google search for “Andrew Tate, The Real World” turns up ads from various sites promoting the scheme, including one urging people to “stop being a whore” and “join now”.

“You’ll learn valuable lessons from handpicked millionaires,” it said, referring to Tate as a “world kickboxing champion and multimillionaire.”

Another read: “As traditional schooling becomes less important, we, founded by Andrew Tate, are stronger.”

Both appeared at the top of the results when Sky News ran a search earlier this week.

Google’s support page says it verifies the identity of all advertisers on its platform and has blocked more than 3 billion ads that violated its policies and suspended millions of accounts in 2021.

“Google must remove these ads”

CCDH researchers used the analytics tool Semrush to discover the ads, which have been viewed an estimated 2.3 million times since last October.

They claim that Google has accepted around $50,000 (£41,000) to run the promotion.

The charity said they were visible when not logged into a Google account, so children could see them. According to one of the websites promoting the program, the program itself is open to people under the age of 18.

There are concerns that young boys are particularly vulnerable to Tate’s views and business practices, with The Real World claiming those who sign up can end up earning more than $10,000 (£8,300) a month.

CCDH chief executive Imran Ahmed said it was “disgraceful” that Google would make any profit from such ads.

“Google must immediately remove these ads and prevent similar content from being promoted in the future,” he added.
