Bob Hall Pier demolished to make room for new design

Corpus Christi, Texas — Gone is the iconic Bob Hall Pier — the pier itself.

The demolition phase of the pier began this summer, and now the pier that once connected Mikel May’s restaurant no longer exists.

When the pier is complete, the $26.3 million project will help prevent damage like Hurricane Hanna in 2020, according to Newches County Marine Park Director Scott Cross.

After the demolition is complete and the next batch of construction crews are installed, the terminal is expected to be completed within a year and a half.

The new design should last 50-75 years, Cross said.
