Carroll, Pfaadt Earn D-Backs MiLB Player and Pitcher of the Year honors

Phoenix, Arizona. — Over the weekend, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced that Corbyn Carroll and RHP Brandon Parfait were awarded the organization’s Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.


Carroll, 22, is currently rated as a D guard. 1 prospect for MLB Pipeline (#3 overall). The former 16th overall pick in the 2019 MLB draft has 24 home runs, 22 doubles, eight threes and 62 in 93 minor league games between the three divisions in 2022 RBIs totaled 0.307 (111 from 362). He also drew 67 walks and 31 stolen bases in the minors before being called to the major league roster on Aug. 29.

At the time of his draft, Carroll was fifth in the minor leagues with a 1.026 OPS and eighth with a 0.604 SLG. Before being promoted to Triple-A Reno, he led Double-A with eight 3-pointers, second in scoring (62), third with 0.430 OBP and 146 in 58 games for Amarillo. tied for seventh in total bases. In 24 major league games, the Seattle-area native hit .256 (20-for-78) with 6 doubles, 3 homers, 1 3-pointer, 13 RBIs and 6 walks .

The 23-year-old Pfaadt went 11-7 with a combined 3.83 ERA, 218 strikeouts, 1.16 WHIP and .251 opponent batting average of 167.0 IP in 29 starts between Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A Reno. D-backs don’t. MLB Pipeline’s 4-rated prospect (91st overall) leads the Minors in strikeouts, starts and pitching innings. His 218 strikeouts were the most by a minor league player in a single season since 2001.

The former fifth-round pick in the 2020 MLB draft made 15 high-quality starts in his 29 games with 10-plus hits five times, including on June 23. tied his career high with 12 strikeouts against Corpus Christi. Since his promotion to Reno, the right-hander is 5-1 with a 2.63 ERA (18 ER in 61.2 IP). The Ace finished their regular season with three home games against Tacoma (Seattle) before the AAA playoffs kicked off Sept. 30 in Las Vegas.

In 2021, OF Alek Thomas and RHP Ryne Nelson take home the D-backs’ top organization individual honors after spending part of the season with the Sod Poodles.
