Operational optimization tools and testing of advanced location-based technology show early restaurant efficiencies

Newport Beach, California, September 27 February 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) today announced that it is piloting advanced technology to enhance the employee and guest experience by streamlining operations and reducing friction. The company recently started piloting two new technologies at its restaurants to provide precise forecasting, optimal quality and more convenience for digital guests.

kitchen management system

in selection Southern California For restaurants, Chipotle is piloting a chef-to-need kitchen management system that provides demand-based forecasting of cooking and ingredient preparation to optimize throughput and freshness while minimizing food waste. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, the system monitors ingredient levels in real time and informs workers how much to prepare, how much to cook, and when to start cooking, while automatically populating each restaurant’s real-time production schedule.

“The new kitchen management system relieves our staff of manual tasks and gives restaurant managers the tools they need to make informed decisions, ultimately allowing them to focus on culinary excellence and a great guest experience,” said Curt GarnerChief Technology Officer.

Chipotle’s new kitchen management system, powered by PreciTaste, is currently being tested at eight restaurants in Australia orange countyCalifornia Early results show that the pilot effectively streamlined the crew’s kitchen operations while ensuring a full range of fresh ingredients for guests at all times.

Contextual restaurant experience

The company is also piloting advanced location-based technology to enhance its app functionality and provide guests with a seamless, convenient experience. For opt-in guests, the program can interact with Chipotle app users upon arrival and leverage real-time data to enhance their experience, including order preparation messages, wrong pickup location detection, and reminders to scan the Chipotle Rewards QR code at checkout , and tomorrow.

“Providing our restaurants with advanced technology is critical to operational excellence and better positioning our teams to deliver on our ambitious growth plans,” added Scott BoatrightChief Restaurant Officer.

Chipotle’s contextual restaurant program leverages Radius Networks’ technology platform, Flybuy, and is currently being tested at 73 restaurants in Mexico Cleveland, Ohio. Early results show good performance in terms of increased in-store reward engagement, order alert notifications, and early allocation to marketplace delivery drivers.

Artificial Intelligence Kitchen Assistant

An autonomous kitchen assistant that Chipotle introduced earlier this year to improve efficiency through collaborative robots has entered the next phase of operational testing. Chippy, which combines culinary heritage with artificial intelligence to create nachos, relocated from the Chipotle Cultivate Center to be officially installed in the restaurant.
