Former NFL player Kevin Weir was charged with murder and tampering with evidence, particularly the body of his girlfriend, Taylor Bomasky, who disappeared in 2021, according to a press release from Harris County District Attorney King Ogg.

“Prosecutors presented evidence to the Harris County grand jury, which found there was sufficient evidence to charge criminal charges,” Ogg said in a news release.

CNN reached out to the Harris County Clerk’s Office about the indictment and was told the case file is not currently available to the public.

“While this investigation has been ongoing since Taylor’s disappearance in 2021, the court process has only just begun and we encourage anyone with information on what happened between Kevin and Taylor stepped up to the plate.”

On May 11, 2021, Pomaski’s family reported her missing and “possibly in danger,” according to a press release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. She was last seen at a party at her residence in April and the circumstances of her disappearance “appeared suspicious”, an investigation said.

In December 2021, authorities discovered remains they believed to be related to Pomaski. In April 2022, the remains were identified as belonging to Pomaski, online records show.

Weir is currently in jail on an unrelated case, according to Montgomery County Jail records.

An attorney for Weir did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.

According to the official website of the National Football League, Kevin Weir has had two seasons in the league.
