Google is likely to unveil in a few days how it plans to compete with the highly successful ChatGPT AI.
The tech giant has scheduled a 40-minute event on Wednesday, February 8, where it will reveal how it is “reimagining the way people search, explore and interact with information.”
“Join us as we learn how we’re opening up more access to information for people around the world through search, maps and more,” the company said.
It’s unclear if the event will be AI-focused, but it will be held in a few days GoogleThe company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced that the company will be making its chatbot technology public in the coming weeks.
People will be able to “engage directly” with Google’s conversational AI — starting with one called LaMDA, which has been in testing, Pichai said Thursday on a conference call with investors from parent company Alphabet.
“Our long-term investments in deep computer science put us in a strong position as AI hits an inflection point, and I’m excited about the AI-driven leaps we’re about to make in search and beyond,” said Mr. Pichai.
We tested Google’s new chatbot
Google has reportedly been fast-tracking its plans for what it calls a large language model because Chat GPTlaunch.
ChatGPT is such a model itself — an AI chatbot trained on vast amounts of text data that it uses to help generate answers and engage in realistic conversations.

The New York Times reported that Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have been called back to help add ChatGPT-like features to their search engine launched more than 25 years ago.
Google has been cautious about chatbots so far, with LaMDA limited to limited testing.Last summer, the company fired a senior engineer after he claimed it was sentient.
competitors Microsoft After making a multibillion-dollar investment in OpenAI, Google will also use AI to transform its own products, including the search engine Bing.
Microsoft has since announced plans to implement ChatGPT into its Teams software, where it will perform actions like wrap-up meetings, but those features will be limited to premium pricing plans.
How artificial intelligence is changing the way we search the web
Some internet start-ups have introduced chatbots in search, but on a much smaller scale than the potential of companies like Google and Microsoft.
Sites such as Neeva and You.com use their AI to provide summarized answers to search queries, complete with citations showing the source of the information.
One of the main criticisms of ChatGPT is the lack of this transparency, with the responses it generates often showing complete trust in what it says, even when it is incorrect or misleading.
Google’s upcoming event will be streamed live on YouTube from Paris at 1.30pm UK time.
it comes just weeks after its parent company Announced 12,000 layoffs.
