Of course, they still have to agree to a referral on the proposed charges, as US media reported. Don’t bet on it.
What they find always gets Trump into trouble.
To do otherwise would send a message to prosecutors and the public that he has no questions to answer and they will not let that happen.
That doesn’t mean knocking on Mar-a-Lago’s door early in the morning, at least not yet.

On January 6 a committee of politicians will make the political findings, and they will refer any recommendations to the Justice Department.
It will be its job to pursue any criminal charges, and that work is already underway.
Jan. 6 — in which Trump is involved — is already in the department’s case file, as well as an investigation into classified documents discovered at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida.

Investigators will insist their investigation is rigorous and independent of external events, but congressional committees calling for criminal charges have changed the context.
