City’s Office of Economic Development
Established in October 2022, the Office of Economic Development serves as a one-stop shop for investors, entrepreneurs, and business owners aiming to start or expand their ventures in Corpus Christi. The office collaborates with regional partners to foster a business-friendly environment and assists businesses in navigating the steps of opening or expanding operations.
Del Mar College Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
The Del Mar College SBDC is part of America’s nationwide SBDC network, offering no-cost business advising and low- to no-cost training tailored for small business owners and entrepreneurs. Services include personalized one-on-one advising with experienced business advisors and over 120 seminars and workshops annually, covering topics from startup to advanced growth strategies.
Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation (CCREDC)
The CCREDC is a non-profit organization responsible for creating, managing, and supervising programs that promote economic development throughout the Coastal Bend region. Through its business attraction and retention programs, the CCREDC focuses on creating new primary jobs and investments in various industry sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, and professional business services.
Recent Initiatives Supporting Small Businesses
In April 2025, the City of Corpus Christi launched the Drought Resilience Workforce Stability Grant Program to support local businesses affected by ongoing drought conditions. Funded through a collaboration with the City’s Type B Corporation and administered by LiftFund, the program allocated $2 million to assist small businesses, with eligible companies receiving up to $50,000 to cover payroll costs and retain employees.
Additionally, in October 2024, the City Council approved over $1 million in Small Business Assistance Agreements to support the growth and development of small businesses throughout the city. These agreements, facilitated by the Corpus Christi B Corporation, provided local entrepreneurs with essential resources, including financial support, workforce development opportunities, technical training, and assistance in securing government contracts.
