Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in an email to staff Saturday that his office “will not tolerate any attempt to intimidate our office or threaten the rule of law in New York.”
The email came after former President Donald Trump posted on social media that he is expected to be arrested as New York prosecutors investigate a hush money scheme involving adult film actress Stormy Daniels and Calling on his supporters to protest any such move.
Bragg said his office is coordinating with the NYPD and the courts to “ensure that any specific or credible threats to the office are fully investigated and that appropriate safeguards are in place so that all 1,600 of us have a safe work environment,” according to an email first obtained by Politico.
Danielle Felson, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney, confirmed the contents of the email to CNN but offered no further comment.
The district attorney added that his office “will continue to apply the law fairly and impartially and speak publicly only when appropriate” as he put it, handling all investigations.
CNN’s John Miller reported Friday that New York City, state and federal law enforcement agencies are meeting on security preparations for a possible indictment of Trump.
National Security Council communications coordinator John Kirby said Sunday that the White House was monitoring the situation closely, but said he was not aware of any White House preparations for protests or major events following Trump’s post.
Kirby told Fox News on Sunday: “We’ve been doing our best to monitor what’s going on here, and we obviously don’t want to see any activity turn violent, certainly not to the extent that we saw on January 6. But we” Watching this, we’ll certainly be watching closely. ”
