MBA grads from these 6 top business schools earn $200,000 starting salaries in 2022

Despite mass layoffs in the tech sector and a looming potential recession, the class of 2022 MBAs at many top business schools are getting record pay packages. In fact, the median starting salary for business school graduates jumped to $175,000—up as much as 17 percent in some programs.

Business school officials and experts attribute the salary jump to competition in the most popular MBA career paths: consulting, finance and technology. For example, three major consulting firms—McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain & Company—announced changes to their MBA compensation structures, giving new graduates starting salaries of at least $190,000. With signing bonuses and performance bonuses, these graduates earn close to $300,000.

“Most graduates have multiple opportunities and compare them to each other,” Juan Pablo Gonzalez, senior client partner at management consulting and recruiting firm Korn Ferry, has previously said. wealth“Additionally, employers from other labor markets — tech, private equity, financial services — for the same talent, and it turns out to be an incredibly competitive market.”
