Miami, October May 2022 – Miami-Dade Collegeof (MDC) Business Innovation and Technology (small amount) center will launch the first of the Academy Student-Operated Digital Agency (SODA) in downtown Miami. via soda, Students interested in careers in marketing can earn industry-recognized certificationssuch as free Google and Hootsuite, and will Opportunity to work with local businesses and organizations Help them overcome marketing and business growth challenges.
SODA will officially open on Thursday, October 2nd. A series of events will be open to the public free of charge on the 13th at the BIT Center on the Wolfson campus from 8:30 am to 1 pm.
“Since opening in 2020, the BIT Center has proudly fulfilled its mission of promoting access and understanding of emerging technologies, including blockchain, cryptocurrencies, DeFi, NFTs, and Metaverse, among others,” said Chechu Lasheras, Director of the BIT Center. “With SODA, we’re extending this mission to allow students to test their knowledge by developing marketing strategies for real clients, while earning certifications and learning new skills for free.”
Designed to enhance the college credit courses offered through MDC’s Global School of Business, Trade and Transportation, SODA was originally conceived by Lasheras with the idea of building students’ confidence by giving them globally-recognized marketing certifications and the opportunity to become crossovers. The agency works under the following guidance instructor Max RamirezBIT Center Manager and MDC Digital Marketing Professor, formerly Director of Advertising, leading the NYTimes.com and Time Warner digital teams. The BIT Center will actively recruit SODA students from all eight MDC campuses.
SODA operates like a regular agency, with departments representing research, strategy, creativity and production. Student members represent a range of academic majors, from finance to graphic arts, and have zero to some marketing experience. They volunteer up to five hours a week.Agency members are supported by faculty advisors and industry-recognized advertising agency partners such as Diaz and Cooper ad. SODA has developed its first digital paid media campaign Dinerazo.com, a Miami-based Hispanic investment advisor. The results of the above activities will be announced at the SODA inauguration.
