Firefighters put out a fire at a business called the Imports Parts Center that disrupted some traffic for hours on Sunday.

Around noon, the Medford Fire Department reported the blaze, which was captured in video and pictures on social media. Passersby at the busy intersection of the Pacific Highway and Central Avenue could see thick black smoke rising above an idea encompassing numerous businesses. The department is asking people to avoid the area as they work to contain the fire.

Then, at around 3:20 p.m., the Medford Fire Department provided an update that crews “began evacuating from the fire scene” and affected areas would reopen. In addition, crews will remain at the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

City of Medford spokeswoman Kristina Johnsen told the Mail-Tribune that an employee was at the scene when the fire broke out, but the person escaped without injury.
