Several officers were placed outside a business near 35th Avenue and Thomas Road in an attempt to get a man to surrender.
PHOENIX — Phoenix police are trying to get a suspect to turn himself in after they allegedly climbed on the roof of a local business and caused criminal damage.
Several officers had been near the store near 35th Avenue and Thomas Road for much of Monday afternoon, trying to negotiate with the suspect.
Police said the man was on the roof of the company with a knife and allegedly set some items on fire. Officials evacuated the store and have been using less lethal tools to subdue the man.
Police said they were still giving the man a chance to turn himself in. The scene is still active and members of the public are advised to stay away from the area.
