With branches nationwide and a highly rated mobile app, Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank offers small business owners a competitive business checking account. Below, you’ll find an overview of PNC’s business checking options and the pros and cons of each account.

Account details are accurate as of November 11th. 21, 2022.

Account basis

PNC Business Checking offers several different account options for small businesses with different needs. Below is a summary of each account.

business inspection

The PNC Business Chequing Account is a basic account ideal for small business owners who make a small number of transactions each month. It offers 150 free transactions and free cash deposits of up to $5,000 per month.

The account requires a minimum opening deposit of $100 and a monthly maintenance fee of $10 after the first three statement cycles. However, you can avoid paying the monthly maintenance fee by meeting any of the following three conditions:

  • Maintain an average monthly balance of $500
  • Spend $500 on eligible purchases with a PNC Business Credit Card
  • Link a PNC Merchant Services account and make a qualifying monthly deposit of at least $500

The account comes with a debit card, free transactions at any PNC Bank ATM, cash back offers and PNC’s money management tool, Cash Flow Insight. Qualifying customers who open accounts before the end of 2022 can receive a PNC Bank Welcome Bonus.

Business Check Plus

The PNC Business Checking Plus account is best for small businesses that conduct a high volume of transactions each month. The account allows for 500 free transactions per month and free cash deposits of up to $10,000.

Business Checking Plus accounts require a minimum opening deposit of $100 and a monthly maintenance fee of $20 after the first three statement cycles. As with the Business Checking account, you can waive the monthly fee by meeting one of the following requirements:

  • Maintain an average balance of $5,000 per month
  • Spend $5,000 on eligible purchases with a PNC Business Credit Card
  • Link a PNC Merchant Services account and make a minimum qualifying monthly deposit of $5,000
  • Maintain a $20,000 balance between your linked PNC business checking account and business money market account

A Business Plus account also has all the features included in a Business Checking account.

treasury business plan

PNC Treasury Enterprise Plan is not an account. It is a package that includes an analytical business check and a choice between two investment options – the Premium Business Money Market Account and the MMDA Sweep Account.

The Treasury Enterprise Plan offers 2,500 free transactions and $50,000 worth of free cash deposits per month. Like Analysis Business Checking, the program allows small business owners to consolidate expenses, balances and bookkeeping.

Account holders can add up to four beneficiary checking accounts with no additional monthly maintenance fees. There is a $10 monthly fee for each additional account beyond four.

This account requires an opening deposit of $100 and a monthly maintenance fee of $50 after the first three statement cycles. Account holders can waive the fee by maintaining a minimum balance of $30,000 in their combined accounts.

Analytical business check

PNC Analytics business checking accounts are best for business owners who need multiple checking accounts and want to pay for the services they actually use.

The account earns a credit on deposit balances to help offset account fees. A $100 deposit is required to open an account, plus a monthly maintenance fee of $25. On top of that, there are additional charges based on the services and features your business uses, as well as the cost of upgrading your online banking capabilities.

This account allows you to link multiple business checking accounts, making bookkeeping easier. It also comes with a Visa Business credit card with no annual fee.

Other PNC Business Chequing Accounts

In addition to these major accounts, there are a few other niche PNC business checking accounts, including:

  • nonprofit inspection
  • business interest check
  • Interest on Attorney Trust Account (IOLTA)
  • MMDA scan

Other PNC Business Banking Products and Services

In addition to its business checking accounts, PNC offers other business financial products. The bank has five business credit cards to choose from, each with its own fees and rewards programs. PNC Merchant products come with tools for online and in-person selling, as well as 24/7 support. Small business loans and unsecured and secured lines of credit are also available.

Access anytime, anywhere

The PNC business checking account is best for business owners who live near a branch. PNC branches are limited to 28 states – primarily in the Eastern US and Washington, D.C.

You can also use online banking and use PNC’s highly rated mobile app. The app lets you manage your account, deposit checks, use ATMs without a card, pay with your mobile wallet, and more.

Of course, you can call Customer Service at 877-BUS-BNKG (877-287-2654) any day of the week for business banking support.

How PNC Business Checks Stack Up

PNC Bank offers a range of accounts and services that can support a variety of small business owners. It’s best for customers who want to do their banking in person or want to have that option. But that doesn’t mean PNC lacks mobile access. This highly rated app offers useful features for business banking on the go. But for those willing to sacrifice branch banking for lower fees, online banking may be better.

Since most PNC business chequing accounts have monthly maintenance fees, customers should make sure they qualify to have these fees waived.

If you’re looking for an account that offers high transaction and cash deposit limits — and you’re eligible for a cash login bonus — PNC Business Checking might make sense for you.
