Proposed regulations could help boost business to 12

Terre Haute, Indiana. (WTWO/WAWV) – A proposed ordinance is expected to help bring new businesses into the 12-point zone.

The ordinance changed the zoning of the area from C-2 to C-8 Downtown Business District.

12 Points Revitalization member Pat Goodwin made the proposal at a Terre Haute City Council meeting and said the change would help the area grow.

He explained that many of the area residents he spoke with seemed to support the potential changes. Community meetings are planned for the next few weeks.

Goodwin said it would also help maintain the neighborhood vibe of the area.

“We hope it will definitely encourage new developments at 12,” Goodwin said. “We want to know that the neighborhood feel will be preserved and enhanced, so this zoning ordinance will help to do that.”

The topic is expected to be discussed at the next Terre Haute City Council meeting scheduled for 3 November.
