Turkish Airlines MRO enters Airbus A330 cargo conversion business

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW) is a passenger and freighter conversion company in which Airbus is a partner and Turkish Technic is a worldwide J&G Part 145 and Part 21 certified MRO company belonging to Turkish national airline. New collaboration for A330P2F conversion.

Through this partnership, Turkish Technic will be the first MRO company to provide conversion solutions for EFW’s A330P2F project. EFW’s first A330P2F conversion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2023 at the Turkish technology company’s Istanbul facility.

Jordi Boto, Chief Executive Officer of EFW, said: “Our P2F order book continues to grow, reflecting strong market demand for Airbus freighter retrofits, and the A330P2F program is increasingly seen as the next-generation platform of choice for the mid-size and wide-body aircraft categories.”

As reported by our media partner Aeroin, EFW’s A330P2F program is being developed in partnership with ST Engineering and Airbus, with EFW holding the Supplemental Type Certificate and leading the overall program, marketing and sales efforts.

There are two variants of the A330P2F program. The A330-200P2F has a total payload of up to 61 tons and a range of more than 7,700 kilometers, while the A330-300P2F has a total payload of up to 63 tons and a container volume of up to ~18,581 cubic feet (about 526 cubic meters).

To meet the growing demand for freighter conversions, ST Engineering and EFW have established new conversion centers in China and the United States, including A330P2F, A320P2F and A321P2F.
