Corpus Christi, Texas — Corpus Christi police raided two game rooms on the city’s south side Wednesday morning.
Search warrants were issued simultaneously for two game rooms in the 4600 block of Kostoryz Rd. In the 4700 block of Kostoryz Rd, according to a statement from the Corpus Christi Police Department. Two men and three women were arrested on illegal gambling charges, officials said. 34 people were ticketed and released at the scene. Two other people were arrested for failing to execute their warrants.
The department’s narcotics and deputy investigation unit began investigating the operation after being tipped off by the community, the statement said. A probable cause has been identified and search warrants have been issued against the properties, officials said.
Justin Cantu, 31; Mary Calvin, 71; Yvette Herrera, 30; Concepcion Rosas, 57; Jaime Luguenot, 20; All were arrested in the raid. All five have been charged with gambling promotion, keeping gambling establishments and possessing gambling equipment.
During the search, detectives confiscated gambling equipment, cash and other evidence of illegal gambling.
