Margate, FL – A family-owned business specializing in shapewear solutions for women, including shapewear, control briefs, waist trainers and girdles, recently lost nearly $3,000 to two thieves.
Augusto Ospina shared surveillance video showing the pair taking just 20 minutes to confront Fajas Colombianas Forestal, 5444 W. Sample Rd., Peppertree Square, Margate, on Thursday. Stores have been hit hard.
“They even saw the cameras right above their heads, but they didn’t care,” said Ospina’s son-in-law, Alvin Brideau.
Ospina was working the counter that day, and the women yelled at him with questions now and then—apparently to distract him—but they refused his help, so he sat back and gave them space.
“When they were leaving, my father-in-law looked and all the hangers were empty,” Brideau said. “They ended up taking more than 10 pieces of clothing.”
Ospina said the family has been reinvesting every penny they earn in an effort to expand the business. They also have a booth at the Festival Marketplace at 2900 W. Sample Rd. in Pano Beach.
“My in-laws are self-made and came here legally from another country. Everything is done the right way. Work out their asses,” Brideau said. “They’re here seven days a week.”
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
