Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – Washburn University’s Center for Small Business Development will welcome a new but familiar face.
The Kansas Small Business Development Center said it has promoted Nadia Arbelo, a consultant at the Manhattan Outreach Center, to assistant director of the organization at Washburn University.
The Kansas SBDC noted that Arbelo will work with Karl Klein in the capital office to bring entrepreneurial impact to Topeka and the 12-county area they will serve.
“Since Nadia was hired in 2022, she has created an impact and spread entrepreneurial dynamism in the Manhattan area through collaboration and bridge building with the community, entrepreneurs and the small businesses we serve,” said Klein, Regional Director of WU SBDC. “We look forward to Nadia’s continued commitment to the states, territories and customers we assist.”
As assistant director for the Northeast region and business advisor to KSSBDC, the organization said Arbelo is most excited about the collaboration and synergies this opportunity will bring. She has held similar positions at SBTDC in Western North Carolina and has served as an independent consultant in the public and private sectors.
According to KSSBDC, Abelo has worked in a variety of industries, from retail to manufacturing, and provided educational and administrative services to public and private schools from Kansas City to Abu Dhabi. She also received the only PhD in the EU. A course in the philosophy and theory of visual culture, with a research focus on gender equality and female identity in public spaces.
As regional SBDC assistant director, the organization says Arbelo believes “supporting lifelong learning through practice fosters innovation and entrepreneurship in everyone.”
KSSBDC states that Arbelo’s mission is to encourage and support small businesses, put ideas into practice, build relationships that lead to success, and elevate underserved urban and rural communities.
