Workforce Names Hendrick Health a Top Employer

Hendrick Health has been honored locally and is in the running for statewide awards through the Texas Workforce Council’s 25th Annual Texas Workforce Employer Awards.

Hendrick has been selected as a 2022 Top Local Employer in West Texas. Additionally, the health system has been named one of three statewide finalists for Large Employer of the Year.

Workforce Solutions of Midwest Texas nominated Hendrick. Local awards are given out on Wednesday.

Hendrick Health serves 24 counties in the Abilene area and operates three hospitals – North and South campuses in Abilene and a hospital in Brownwood. It has more than 4,800 employees.

A release said Hendrick is part of a childcare partnership that “expands local capacity, meets the needs of staff and working families, creates a pipeline of early childhood education talent and reinvests back into the community.

It points to $255,586 in training to create a career ladder and upskill 155 active employees, $38,000 in scholarships to train students for health care careers, career exploration engagement and industry education partnerships.

Hendrick HR Director Promoted

Courtney Head has been promoted to Vice President of Human Resources at Hendrick Medical Center.

She is responsible for recruitment, retention, employee benefits, and employee health and wellness, according to a release.

Head has been with Hendrick for 15 years, primarily in Human Resources. She was promoted to Director in 2013 and Assistant Vice President in 2020. Hendrick’s other positions include Benefits Manager and Human Resources Recruiter.

A native of Laredo, she was an undergraduate at Texas Tech University and holds a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
