Canady of Nicholls, Austridge of Lamar earn Southland Cross Country Player of the Week honors – Crescent City Sports

FRISCO, Texas — Randy Canady of Nicholls and Yasmin Austridge of Lamar received Southland Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week awards during the fourth week of league action, as the league office announced Tuesday.

Men’s Athlete of the Week: Randy Canady, Nicholls – R-Jr. – Groesbeck HS, Texas
Canady had an impressive performance at the LSU Invitational last week, finishing the 6-kilometer race in 18:40.4, finishing sixth personally and fourth among competitors. The Colonels are second in the team standings behind LSU.
Honorable Mention: Jacob Kipkogei, McNeese.

Women’s Athlete of the Week: Yasmin Austridge, Lamar – Sr. – London, UK
Austridge, the McNeese Cowboy Stampede winner, completed the 5K in 17:55.8, more than 20 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Lamar is second in the team standings. This is Ostridge’s second Athlete of the Week award this season.
